First Post – How to Jailbreak your iPhone Firmware 2.2.1

This is my first post- welcome to my blog! I chose this guide as my first post since I am an iPhone enthusiast, and frequently get asked this question everywhere I go.

** This WILL void your warranty with Apple** Good news is, you can just restore it through iTunes if ever you need to take it in to the Apple Store for support- so, no worries!

*First things first, make sure you are running the latest version of iTunes [8.0.2] installed*

Things you will need:

• QuickPwn Software: Download for Windows, or Mac.
• iPhone 2.2.1 Firmware: For iPhone 2G, or iPhone 3G.

Step 1:
Create a folder on your desktop, and call it “Pwnage” > add QuickPWN and the Firmware 2.2.1 file into that folder.

Step 2:
Unzip the QuickPwn file into the Pwnage folder.

Step 3:
Launch iTunes, and connect your iPhone to your computer using the USB cable

Step 4:
Select your iPhone from the list on the left side. > hold down shift (*Option key for Mac*) and click the Restore button.

Step 5:
Navigate to the Pwnage folder you created on your desktop > select the 2.2.1 firmware ipsw file > double click the ipsw file or select it and click the Open button to proceed.

Step 6:
Once iTunes is finished upgrading your iPhone to 2.1 > launch QuickPwn 2.1 from the Pwnage folder you created on your desktop.

Step 7:
Make sure your iPhone is still connected to iTunes via USB > click the blue arrow button to proceed.

Step 8:

Click the Browse button to locate your iPhone firmware ipsw file > click “Open” button.

Step 9:
QuickPwn will verify the ipsw file > after completion of the verification, click the blue arrow button to proceed.

Step 10:
You can now select whether to Add Cydia, Add Installer, or Replace Boot Logos. Select the ones you would like to perform then click the clue arrow button (Cydia is highly recommended).

Step 11:
QuickPwn will now ask you to confirm your iPhone 3G is connected via USB cable > verify and click the blue arrow button to proceed.

Step 12:
QuickPwn will now automatically put your iPhone into recovery mode > once it’s in recovery mode you will be prompted to:

-Hold the Home button for 5 seconds
-Hold the Home and Power buttons for 10 seconds
-Release the Power button and continuing holding the Home button until your iPhone is in DFU mode.

Step 13:
Once QuickPwn detects your iPhone 3G in DFU mode it will begin the jailbreaking process.

Step 14:
Once jailbreaking is complete QuickPwn will inform you that it was successful.
