[iPhone] Cydia Too Slow? How to Install Icy!
May 28th, 2009
Let’s be honest, launching Cydia feels like a chore at times. Especially when you are on a slow connection like EDGE. You have to wait for it to update its sources, and pull all the new data until you can use it at decent speed.
Luckily, the RipDev has released the lightweight, and speedy alternative called ICY. I will go through the steps of installing it.

(Icy in action, more sleek and light)
Note: You need to have a jailbroken iPhone to use this. You can Jailbreak using my guide.
- From your iPhone, launch Cydia.
- Tap the “Manage” tab at the bottom, and hit “Sources”.
- Add the following source (tap “Edit”, then “Add”): http://apt.ripdev.com
- After adding the source, open it by tapping on it.
- Then from the list of packages, tap on “Icy”.

- On the next screen, tap the “Install” button at the top-right corner, then “Confirm” to start installing it.
Once the installaion is complete, you will see the new “Icy” icon on the homescreen!
