I know I haven’t banged out a post in a while, but I like any other person just got a bit busy… But I’m back!
Here is a new gem I would like to share with you guys- it’s called XP Quick Fix Plus. It’s a single application which includes lots of little quick fixes for common XP issues such as restoring your Network Places icon, re-enabling your task manager, and much more.
It is free, and fits nicely into your flash drive.
Ever needed to show someone step by step instructions on the computer remotely? This secret feature will allow you to record each of your steps in the form of screen shots for easy assistance…
You can launch the Problem Steps Recorder tool by typing psr.exe in the Windows 7 search bar.
George Hotz aka GEOHOT, the teen known for unlocking the first iPhone has come to the rescue of us 3GS owners. He has released BlackRa1n (Windows only at the moment). BlackRa1n is a super simple jailbreak tool that jailbreaks all iPhones on 3.1 or 3.1.2, including those out of the box. The big deal here is that the iPhone Dev-Team wasn’t able to crack the 3GS security, so had to delay their tool for the 3GS and only released their PWNAGE TOOL for the original iPhone, and the 3G.
Even those owners couldn’t jailbreak if they had updated to 3.1 via iTunes, so unless they were on 3.0, or 3.0.1, they were out of luck.
Well with BlackRa1n, it’s all gravy, just plug your iPhone in to your computer, fire up BlackRa1n, and wait! Worked great for me, and gave me Cydia, ICY, and ROCK.
Apple has released a much-needed patch: iPhone OS 3.1.2 is out and it solves the sleep issue—in which the iPhone refused to wake up—brought in by the previous version.
Most hosting companies offer a variety of bandwidth options in their plans. So exactly what is bandwidth as it relates to web hosting? Put simply, bandwidth is the amount of traffic that is allowed to occur between your web site and the rest of the internet. The amount of bandwidth a hosting company can provide is determined by their network connections, both internal to their data center and external to the public internet.
Network Connectivity
The internet, in the most simplest of terms, is a group of millions of computers connected by networks. These connections within the internet can be large or small depending upon the cabling and equipment that is used at a particular internet location. It is the size of each network connection that determines how much bandwidth is available. For example, if you use a DSL connection to connect to the internet, you have 1.54 Mega bits (Mb) of bandwidth. Bandwidth therefore is measured in bits (a single 0 or 1). Bits are grouped in bytes which form words, text, and other information that is transferred between your computer and the internet.
As you may have noticed, there was little to no activity on the site for the past week. We were having issues where viewing posts was resulting in a “File Not Found 404″ error.
I worked with my web host on fixing the issue. Turns out that my perma-link rules were somehow missing from the domain.
I was forced to restore a backup of the database that was a week old, so you may notice I’m missing some posts that were visible before. I apologize for this dark period of time– as I wasn’t able to post an update on the situation at hand due to the bug.
Anyway, I’m back and will be playing catchup this week– thanks for your patience!
